This year, We'll be talking about diseases caused by unhealthy living and sedentary lifestyle. This is to remind all of us to stay into healthy living, exercise regularly and to have a regular check-up to our health care provider.


VASCULAR DISEASE


The vascular system is the body's
network of blood vessels. It includes the arteries, veins and capillaries that carry blood to and from the heart.

1. ARTERIOSCLEROSIS OBLITERANS
  • DEFENITION: This is a chronic 
    arteriosclerosis marked by 
    occlusion of the artery and specially those supplying the extremities.
  • RISK FACTORS: If you have these risk factors, discuss them with your health care provider.
  1. Diabetes
  2. Cigarette smoking
  3. High blood pressure (or family history of it)
  4. Coronary heart disease (or family history)
  5. Stroke (pr family history)
  6. High cholesterol
  7. Age over 60 years old
-This disease is common among Males.

  • SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
  1. Claudication-pain, Easily fatigue, cramping or tingling in the legs brought on by exercise that goes away when resting.
  2. Sores, ulcer, or infection of the legs that heal slowly.
  3. Numbness of the legs or feet at rest.
  4. Cold legs or feet
  5. Swelling in lower extremities
  6. Loss of hair on the legs/or feet
  7. Paleness or blueness of the legs
  8. weak or absent pulse in the legs
  9. Erectile Dysfunction






2.THROMBOANGIITIS OBLITERANS or BUERGER'S DISEASE

  • DEFINITION: This is a disorder that leads to obstruction of the blood vessels of the hands and feet.
  • RISK FACTORS
    1.  Diabetes
    2. Cigarette Smoking
    3. High blood pressure (family history)
    4. Coronary heart disease (family history)
    5. High Cholesterol (family history)
    6. Age over 50


-This disease is common among males.


  • SIGNS/SYMPTOMS
  1. Pain in the hands and feet
               > Acute, Severe
               > Burning pr tingling
               > Often occurring at rest

      2. Pain in the legs, ankles or feet when walking
               > Often located in the arch of the foot

      3. Skin changes or ulcers in hand or feet
      4. Hands or feet maybe pale, red, of blush
      5. Hands and feet may feel cold

When to Contact the Medical Professional!!!!
...Call your health care provider of the symptoms indicate thromboangiitis obliterans is presented, If symptoms worse despite treatment, or if the new symptoms develop.
